Consider taking your next course in Dijon, France! Dijon is a city known for its great food, fine wine, museums, beautiful medieval and renaissance architecture--and of course its mustard! -
But, is it too expensive?
The same USC 4-unit tuition you would pay to take a course at USC pays for 4 USC units in Dijon, France. Most books, plus a weekend excursion to the Loire Valley and travel in the beautiful region of Bourgogne (in English called Burgundy) are also included. -
Why Dijon?
In four short weeks it is easy to get to know and love this lovely city. With a population of approximately 150,000, it is a small, manageable city, rich in history as well as street markets, outdoor concerts, theatre and of course, cafes and, restaurants. The program which is sponsored by the Universite of Bourgogone invites students on evening tours of the city and weekend day trips to the Burgundy region, including Beaune and Vezelay. -
What about housing and food?
Housing costs are reasonable. You may choose to stay in the dorm (single room with bed, desk, sink, shower/toilet down the hall) for approx. $400 or you might choose to stay with a French family (a great way to learn French and experience French culture), arranged through the university. Room and board (breakfast and dinner) with a family would cost approximately $800 for the month. If you stay in the dorm, there are small kitchens on each floor available for home cooking, or meals are served in the dorm social/dining room at a reasonable price. -
What about transportation?
Transportation to France is arranged on an individual basis. There are student discount fares and charter flights to France. Air fares (Los Angeles-Paris) in 2004 ranged from approximately $800-$1,200 round trip. -
But where is Dijon?
Dijon is at the gates of France's most famous wine region (la Côte d'Or). It is situated at one of the leading European crossroads in the east central region of France and is an important center of commerce and industry. It is less than two hours by train from Paris and three hours from Geneva, Switzerland. -
What about the credits?
Courses are available at all levels except French 120.
Students can receive credits for:
French 150, 220, 240, 250, 300, 310, 330, or 490.
The University of Southern California reserves the right to cancel any program in case of an emergency beyond its control or to cancel programs or substitute classes due to low enrollments or unavailablity of faculty.
